Using HideFlash

Starting program

To statr the program, open your USB flash drive with Windows Explorer and double-click HideFlash icon. After you log in, the program will appear in the system tray:

 

By double-clicking the tray icon, you can show the main program window or hide it again.

Adding users

The Users Management dialog box is designed for adding, modifying and deleting users:

 

It can be shown in different ways:

• automatically, when the application is just installed and no user is found in the system
• by pressing "..." button on the Login dialog
• by pressing button on the main program window toolbar
• by selecting Settings > Users menu item

In all these operations you will need to enter the administrator password:

 

To add user, click Add New button. Enter the username and password and click OK.

To delete user, select its name in the list and click Delete button.

To change user name or password, select it in the list and click Edit button. Enter the username and password and click OK:

 

Default user is a user which will be selected by default when starting HideFlash, in Login dialog. To select the dafault user, simply select it in the Default user dropdown list.

Login

When you start HideFlash, it normally shows the Login dialog box:

 

Select your username in the Username dropdown list and input your password in Password field. Click OK. If the password is correct, you will see the HideFlash icon in the system tray.

If you want to configure users, click "..." buton near the user list.

Selecting files

To hide or show files and folders, you need to add them to the main window files list.

To add file or folder, click button or select Operation > Add file (folder) menu item.

If you don't want to hide file any more, remove it from the list. To remove file or folder, select it in list and click button or select Operation > Remove file (folder) menu item. You can remove several files or folders as one operation. For this, select multiple rows in the table by pressing Ctrl key.

Showing and Hiding files

When you have added some files and folders into the list, you can hide them.

To hide file or folder, select it in the list and click button. To hide all files and folders in the list, click button. You can hide all files by selecting Hide all files in the tray menu which you see when you right-click the HideFlash system tray icon.

To swow file or folder, select it in the list and click button. To hide show files and folders in the list, click button. You can show all files by selecting Show all files in the tray menu which you see when you right-click the HideFlash system tray icon.
You can hide or show several files or folders as one operation. For this, select multiple rows in the table by pressing Ctrl key.

When the operation is completed, you will see the notification with its results:

 

Changing passwords

If you want, you can change your password (for current user) and the administrator password. Notice that if you know the administrator password, you'll be able to change passwords for all users.

 

To change your password, click button or select Settings > My password menu item. Input your current password and new password twice and click OK.
To change administrator password, click button or select Settings > Administrator password menu item. Input current administrator password and new password twice and click OK.
